Alecu Russo Balti State University was founded in 1945 and presently has become the center of the University Complex which embraces all levels of education: pre-university, university, post-university. The university complex includes State University, Retraining Center for school and lyceum teachers, Ion Creanga Lyceum and Pedagogical College. The university structure is made up of eight faculties. The interuniversity partnerships and collaborations established by the university are materialized in implemented international projects. Participation in international projects allows the university employees to make themselves familiar with the opinions of the people in charge of Higher Education in the European zone, to share their own experience and to disseminate the acquired positive practice. Simultaneously, increased attention is paid not only to the problems that Higher Education in this country faces, but also to the strategies of solving them. At the moment USB collaborators are implementing Tempus and Erasmus Mundus projects. The university has a team of about 20 academic and administrative staff who have experience in international projects and skills in multidisciplinary international working teams. The Department for International Relations has experience in organizing staff and student mobility in Erasmus Mundus projects, participation in creating standards for the selection of students and staff within the project, providing required linguistic support, facilitating academic recognition of periods of study, training, research and teaching (through ECTS) at the home institution.
